When did men start shaving their faces? When did women start their underarm depilation? We’ll leave that to historians to answer. Fashions have changed over the years, from the tough cowboys of the wild west to the elegant and handsome men in the modern world.
You have the choice now: would you rather box yourself in and deny a beautiful thing, or be leading the fashion trend?
In the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in China there was an obvious and strong difference between the Western swimming and gymnastic athletes and their Eastern counterpart when they raised their arms to cheer for victory – with the depilated underarms of the Western athletes it was clear that the western male has, once more, taking the lead in emphasizing the personal image.
Racial profiling is not the issue here, and I suggest you don’t even try to get into that issue. What I’m getting at is that people involved with fashion and sports are the pioneers of fashion trends. While a hairy body might once have been considered sexy, now American males – with their clean, neat, and smooth depilated bodies – represent a new era to come.
My profession has always made me pay attention to people’s body hair.
